Exhibition area for accessibility products, Esteri
Located in Children’s Traffic Town, Esteri is the first place in Finland to showcase an extensive collection of accessibility products from a range of manufacturers for designers and constructors. The aim is for the products on display to promote the use of accessible solutions in street and green area construction.
In addition to the construction sector professionals, all users of the accessibility products found at Esteri are welcome, i.e. persons with different forms of reduced mobility or functional impairment. Children’s Traffic Town is near several disability organisations’ offices and rehabilitation centres. This allows the area to be used for mobility training by disabled children, for example.
Accessibility products improve the mobility of wheelchair and rollator users, and persons with impaired vision. For example, various types of kerbs that separate the carriageway from the pavement have been constructed in the Traffic Town, as well as blisters, tactile surfaces, road markings and stairs with contrasting strips.
The City of Helsinki’s Urban Environment Division is in charge of the accessibility product exhibition area. Entry to Esteri if free. However, groups must book a timeslot in advance. You can find the contact details below.
