This accessibility statement applies to the City of Helsinki’s Helsinki for All website. The site address is https://helsinkikaikille.hel.fi/en.

The objective of the city

As regards the accessibility of digital services, Helsinki aims to reach at least Level AA or above according to the WCAG guidelines in so far as is reasonably practical.

Compliance status

This website meets the statutory critical accessibility requirements in accordance with Level AA of the WCAG 2.1 with the following deficiencies.

The content mentioned below does not yet meet all the statutory accessibility requirements.

Deficiencies found

In responsive mode (320 x 256 px screen size), the navigation menu background is transparent and partially overlays the page content (WCAG 2.1: 1.4.10 Reflow).

Correcting deficiencies

Continuous efforts are made to address identified accessibility gaps. The list of accessibility gaps observed, as presented in this statement, will be updated as shortcomings are corrected.

Preparing the accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 15 November 2022.

Assessment of accessibility

The work instructions and procedures of the City of Helsinki were followed when evaluating the accessibility of the site, with the aim of ensuring the accessibility of the website in all stages of the work process.

Accessibility was assessed by means of an audit by a third-party expert as well as self-assessment.

Accessibility was assessed using a programmatic accessibility auditing tool as well as by manually reviewing the site and content.

Defects reported by the assessment tools were reviewed and, if necessary, corrected.

The third-party expert audit was carried out by Unicus Oy.

Updating the accessibility statement

The accessibility of the website must be ensured through constant monitoring when the website technology or content changes and periodic checks. This statement will be updated in conjunction with website changes and accessibility checks.

The City of Helsinki and accessibility

The city promotes the accessibility of digital services by streamlining publishing work and organising accessibility-related training for its personnel.

The accessibility level of websites is monitored constantly during their maintenance. Immediate action is taken if deficiencies are found. The aim is to carry out the necessary changes as quickly as possible.
